Attorney Yvonne A. H. Saxon

Yvonne A. H. Saxon is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She is a 1981 graduate of Blount High School, a 1985 graduate of Hampton University, and a 1988 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. Attorney Saxon is a retired Alabama Assistant Attorney General. She is a Registered Mediator under the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution. Before retiring May 2022 from the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, she served as an appellate prosecutor in the Criminal Appeals Division. She also served as General Counsel for the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Language-Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA), the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT), and the Alabama Sickle Cell Commission. Since retirement, Attorney Saxon launched a private law practice, Dispute-Less, LLC, which specializes in mediation.

Attorney Saxon is an avid community volunteer serving her community in both legal and non-legal organizations. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Legal Services Alabama (LSA). LSA recognized Attorney Saxon for her long term and dedicated service by naming the Montgomery Office Training Room the “Yvonne A. H. Saxon Training Room” in her honor. Attorney Saxon also serves on the University of Alabama Law School Leadership Council. She is very active with the Alabama State Bar serving as the past Chairman of the Study of the Impact on the Disciplinary Process for Minorities Task Force (2020-21), and a current member of the Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL) and Diversity in the Profession Committees. Attorney Saxon is a former president of the Alabama Lawyers Association (ALA) 1995-1996; Capitol City Bar Association (1993-1995), and the Board of Directors for Legal Services Corporation of Alabama (LSCA) (1994-2004).

Attorney Saxon is a member of Fountain Chapel A.M.E. Church in Clanton, Alabama, where she serves as the Administrative Church Secretary and Women Missionary Society President. Other community organization memberships include: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Beta Nu Omega Chapter (Former President), National Hampton Alumni Association (Former Eastern Region Vice-President and Former South Eastern Region President), The Emanon Group (Treasurer), NAACP, Elmore County Chapter (Chairman Legal Redress Committee), Elmore County Black History Museum (Board Member), Elmore County Joe Swell Board of Directors (Member), Montgomery YMCA, Wetumpka Branch ( Fitness Instructor, Volunteer, and former “Man of the Year”), and Ninth District AME, Montgomery-Selma District Christian Education Director (2009-2017).

Attorney Saxon is married to Wendell Saxon, an Elmore County School Board Member (District 2). They have two adult children, Chrispus and Jewel. They have one daughter-in-love, Candace. As a family, they are proud HBCU graduates (Yvonne-Hampton University-1985, Wendell-Alabama State University-1980, Candace-Hampton University-2013 & 2014, Chrispus-Hampton University-2015, and Jewel-Tennessee State University-2019) Attorney Saxon is the daughter of the late Rev. Henry J. Henderson, Sr. and Olivette W. Henderson and the daughter-in-love of the late Charlie and Gussie Saxon.
